Projekte
We are member of joint undertaking Shift2Rail and the Virtual Vehicle Austria Consortium+ (VVAC+). Shift2Rail is a research initiative and public-private-partnership between the EU and the rail sector. In the Shift2Rail research period, AC²T is involved in more than seven specific projects within the following two work focuses:
IN2TRACK - Research into enhanced tracks, switches and structures
AC²T’s role in the project is focused on:
- Experimental simulations of specific features of wheel-rail and wheel-switch contacts, such as early damages and friction management
- Wear resistant layers on self-lubricating sliding plates for crossings
- Analysis of friction behaviour in the crossing-rail-sliding plate interface
- Laser applied surface coatings for tracks and wear and rolling contact fatigue performance of wear layers

FR8RAIL - Development of Functional Requirement for Sustainable and Attractive European Rail Freight
AC²T’s role in the project is focused on:
- Online sensors for tribologically relevant lubricant and machinery parameters by multi-sensor systems
- Analysis/assessment of new running gear technologies regarding vehicle dynamics, wheel-rail wear and damage and track deterioration based on Multi Body Dynamics (MBD) simulations, in cooperation with other scientific partners
- Condition based and predictive maintenance program based on diesel locomotives
