Core tasks: Independent scientific work under limited guidance. Definition of R & D projects and project goals, coordination of projects, writing of scientific papers which can be used for academic advancement (in particular for dissertations), participation in publications as primary author or team member, active and passive participation in professional events and further training measures, participation in the acquisition of R & D projects and service contracts, independent execution of R & D projects and service contracts.

Prerequisite: Graduate of a university or college of higher education (or equivalent) with a strong interest in research and development, ability to work independently, team-oriented, ability to develop a core competency.

Training: project management, presentation techniques, participation in professional events, cooperation with scientific partners.

Career path: deepening of individual core competencies and long-term activity as technical expert; alternatively qualification for the career stage "Senior Scientist" within 3 to 7 years or "Key Researcher" for outstanding achievements.

Exit path: researchers reorient themselves after completing the dissertation: either externally towards the industrial sector or internally as a senior expert or manager.
